Austin Playhouse Arts Center

We're building an Arts Center that will be a community hub for Austin Playhouse artists and patrons as well as serving dozens of local arts organizations. You have a crucial part to play in bringing the dream to life.

In April 2019, Austin Playhouse purchased a 2.8 acre site located at 1717 E. Anderson Lane along the 183 frontage road in northeast Austin.

We engaged Forge Craft Architecture to design a welcoming and accessible arts center that will provide tremendous opportunities for both Austin Playhouse and AP’s partners in the arts.

The facility is fully permitted and shovel ready.

Austin Playhouse completed Phase 1 of the building campaign by raising $1,500,000 for land purchase, initial architectural drawings, engineering plans, and a feasibility study.

On December 14, 2023, Austin City Council approved the use of $4,500,000 of bond funding for this project. The full blog post on this contribution can be read here.

Since then, Austin Playhouse has raised over $1.5 million toward the final project costs including site development and building construction. Our remaining funding gap is $2 million.
