Capital Campaign
In April 2019, Austin Playhouse purchased a 2.8 acre site located at 1717 E. Anderson Lane along the 183 frontage road in northeast Austin.
Forge Craft Architecture designed a welcoming and accessible arts center that will serve as a creative hub for Austin artists and provide tremendous growth opportunities for both Austin Playhouse and AP’s partners in the arts.
The facility feature two stages, a 207-seat main stage and a 99-seat black box stage. Additionally, there will be flexible spaces for performances and events including a large classroom, rooftop terrace, and outdoor patio.
The new space will also have full support facilities including offices, scene shop, costume loft, and backstage dressing rooms, as well as 1700 square feet of office rental space.
The facility is fully permitted and shovel ready.
Austin Playhouse has already completed Phase 1 of the building campaign by raising $500,000 for initial architectural drawings, engineering plans, a feasibility study and project consultants. We are in the middle of Phase 2 with a $5,000,000 goal that includes site development and building construction. The final phase of the building campaign is $1,500,000 for the retirement of construction loans.
