Austin Playhouse’s Theatre for Youth program engages local elementary, middle, and high school students through professional productions and workshops. Activities challenge children to think critically and creatively about stories that are relevant to their diverse ethnic, social, and economic experiences.
The Theatre for Youth productions are quality works performed by professional actors that respect the intelligence of our young audience and take seriously the complex problems they face. We offer all Theatre for Youth programming free of charge so that these opportunities are accessible to students and families from all socio-economic backgrounds.
The program includes full productions with fifteen total performances each, a week of educational theatre workshops, and provides 300 fully subsidized tickets for low-income high school students to attend shows in our annual season.
