Masks are recommended throughout the building and required during the performance except when actively drinking. Two HEPA filters are also running in the space throughout the performance.
All tickets are fully transferrable to another performance during the run. If you're not feeling well or have been exposed, please stay home.
COVID remains a large area of concern for live performances in professional theatres. Several recent, local productions have had to close early or fit in understudies due to COVID cases.

Commissioned by Austin Playhouse, Previews of Departing Attractions is a collection of witty and poignant short plays tied together by loss and humor.
In addition to new works, Bartholomee has revisited past pieces to curate an evening filled with his trademark comedy, wit, and insight.
The ensemble cast includes Kareem Badr, Zac Carr, Marina DeYoe-Pedraza, David Dubose, Sarah Chong Harmer, Robert Fisher, and Juleeane Villareal.
“As we look hopefully to the future, we also acknowledge and mourn the things we've lost. Not just to a pandemic, but to the shifting sands of Austin's evolution from 'weird college town,' to bustling metropolis. Previews of Departing Attractions uses Bartholomee's work to shine a light on what was so special about arts creation and support in Austin and what could be again,” said Austin Playhouse Producing Artistic Director, Lara Toner Haddock.
“The title of the collection nods at loss and that thread runs through several of the pieces," said Bartholomee. Some of that has been brought out more through rewriting, but it’s not a new element in the work. The last couple of years have definitely put an emphasis on loss, so it was natural to bring those threads out more as we prepared these pieces for a new life. But none of it was added onto the work. For better or worse, I’ve always been in the mindset of saying goodbye.”
In-person performances will take place at the new Austin Playhouse West Campus venue located at 405 West 22nd. A drop-off is available on San Antonio Street and free street parking is available with two paid parking garages conveniently located across the street.
